MONTREAL — Internal analytics from meal-delivery service Just Eat shows the culinary habits of Montrealers differ from consumers in other Canadian cities.
Montreal boasts the highest number of restaurants per capita in Canada — 26.8 restaurants for every 10,000 people — and the second highest in North America, after New York. So what are some of Montrealers’ preferences when ordering in?
• Canada’s metropolitan areas have an affinity for Asian cuisines (Chinese, Japanese, Thai).
• Montrealers’ favourite dish is Portuguese grilled chicken
• Montrealers are more price-sensitive when it comes to takeout: the average order in Montreal is a little over $30, whereas the average Canadian order rises to $41.12
In addition, Just Eat found diners in Montreal order healthier dishes than the rest of Canada.
