TORONTO — The LCBO’s website is temporarily down as the alcohol distributer removes all U.S. alcohol products in response to President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canadian goods. It’s unknown how long this process will take.
“At the direction of Premier (Doug Ford), U.S. products are being removed from LCBO shelves,” said Ivana Yelich, spokesperson for the Premier in a post on X yesterday morning.
“We support the removal of U.S. products from the LCBO,” says Tony Elenis, president & CEO of the Ontario Restaurant Hotel Motel Association (ORHMA). “Ontarians and Canadians need to stay united and support our government’s actions to remain strong against these unnecessary tariffs. There are plenty of top quality products available at the LCBO including Ontario wines, beer , ciders and spirits. These tariffs are a weapon to weaken our economy and we should all do our part in standing up for our Ontario. All people in Ontario should. The consequences are much greater if we don’t.”
