LONDON, Ont. McCormick Canada once again brings passion to flavour, this time with a Filipino twist.

This June, 11 well-loved Filipino Recipe Mixes will hit retailers in Toronto and Vancouver as Filipino food continues to emerge as an internationally recognized cuisine.

Canadian and American bloggers are boldly declaring that Filipino food will be the next big ethnic food to hit the mainstream palate.  In fact, it was declared as one of the top food trends in 2012 by Blog TO.

“There is a groundswell of Filipino pride among the growing Filipino communities all over the world.  There is pride in being Filipino and everything that evokes Filipino, their cuisine included,” says Eins Mutuc, Marketing Product Manager, McCormick Canada.

“The launch of the McCormick line of Filipino Recipe mixes will make it even easier for Filipinos to show off their cooking skills.  These Recipe Mixes are made from high quality ingredients, backed by constant innovation and product testing to ensure that nothing but the best flavours go into every pack,” adds Mutuc. “This is something that the Filipinos have recognized and appreciated through the years.  McCormick is the number one Western brand in recipe mixes in the Philippines and it is indeed good news for Filipinos in Canada that their all-time favourite mixes are now within easy reach.”

Adobo Mixes

Traditionally served with rice, Adobo makes use of pork or chicken slowly cooked in vinegar, garlic, bay leaf, peppercorns and soy sauce.  McCormick’s Adobo Mixes in Classic, Adobo sa Pula at Adobo sa puti bring an exciting experience to this all-time favorite dish.

Sinigang Mixes

Sinigang is a traditional Filipino soup characterized by its sour flavour associated with tamarind. McCormick’s Sinigang Mixes come in Classic flavour and to provide a fresh twist to this dish, McCormick is also introducing  Sinigang with Lemongrass and Sinigang with Rosemary and Chili. Perfect for the growing preference for fusion in Filipino food.

Filipino Seasonings

The McCormick line of Filipino seasonings brings back memories of well-loved Filipino dishes such as Asado, Curry, Menudo, Pancit Canton and Caldereta.

“Filipinos are also making a few changes to their cooking habits,” notes Mutuc. “With growing attention to healthy eating, Filipinos are finding ways to enjoy their comfort food while using healthier cooking oil, and opting for leaner cuts of meat, for example. McCormick Recipe mixes such as the Adobo and Sinigang Mixes, Asado, Curry, Menudo and Caldereta also contain no MSG.”
