OAK BROOK, Ill. — McDonald’s showcased a new 30-second ad last night during the Super Bowl to announce that it will temporarily be accepting a new form of payment — including selfies, dancing and compliments — for meals.

Between Feb. 2 and 14, McDonald’s employees will select customers to participate in the Pay With Lovin’ campaign to get a free meal. “We want to thank our customers for making our day, and hopefully they will make someone else’s as well,” a McDonald’s spokeswoman told ABC News. “From selfies, hugs, to high-fives, we have a bunch of fun ways to express your lovin.’”

During the Super Bowl, the McDonald’s social-media team gave away dozens of prizes to Twitter users who re-tweeted its posts about fellow advertisers’ commercials. Prizes ranged from a 2015 Toyota Camry SE to a cheque for $600 that the winner may use towards 12 months of Internet service and a one-year supply of Coca-Cola.

Meanwhile, Toronto-based South St. Burger announced a similar in-store promotion last week. On Feb. 14, the chain is offering free fries with the purchase of a burger to customers who kiss at its restaurants.
