National Chef’s Conference Returns

VANCOUVER — More than 500 chefs are set to gather in Vancouver for the 48th annual National Chefs Conference.

“The National Chefs Conference is a unique gathering of Canada’s culinary community. It brings together established chefs and the stars of tomorrow to test their skills, share ideas and explore new culinary trends,” said Dawn Donahue, conference director.

The conference, which will run from June 12 to 15, is hosted by the Canadian Culinary Federation/Culinaire Canadienne and the BC Chefs’ Association. It will feature competitions, a gala, keynote talks and seminars, and a post-event tradeshow and golf tournament.

On the competition side, contestants will participate in such events as the National Chefs Challenge and World Association of Chef’s Society Global Chefs Challenge. Meanwhile, guests can enjoy an Aboriginal dinner June 13 at UBC Farms and Tastes of Halifax on June 14 at the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside.

The event’s keynote speakers include culinary heavyweights Rob Feenie and C Restaurant’s Robert Clark.
