TORONTO — Steam Whistle Brewing’s chef, Calvin Lee, has launched his new winter menu in its onsite Biergärten Restaurant. Chef Lee’s cuisine is founded on traditional Bavarian Bier Halle fare, yet expanded with contemporary restaurant guests in mind. New vegetarian options, fall flavours and out-of-the-ordinary ingredients punctuate the dining experience.

Chef Lee updates the Biergärten menu twice-annually to match the changing seasons. A returning fan favourite is the Soft Pretzel with grainy mustard and cheese sauce, while new on the winter menu is the Roundhouse Burger made with ground ribeye and chuck on a brioche bun with fontina cheese, pickled cabbage, crispy onions and dijoinaise. The Bavarian theme is celebrated with the Steam Whistle Fried Pork Hock with sauteed cabbage; the OG Bratwurst served with house-made sauerkraut; the Curry Bratwurst with curry ketchup and potato sticks; and the Flank Steak with mixed mushrooms and Gemelli Stroganoff. There are also plenty of meatless options, including the new Pumpkin Pesto Rigatoni or the roasted Broccoli Steak with carrot-caraway puree. Two new sides include pickled vegetables or Navy, Fava & Butter Beans with Barley and vegetable broth.

The beverage menu is beer-dominant, featuring Steam Whistle Pilsner in filtered and non-filtered forms. Also available are the brewery’s craft beer partner brands, including Beau’s All Natural, Colorado-based New Belgium Brewing and Vancouver Island’s Philips Brewing & Malting Co., alongside specialty and beer cocktails, hard seltzers and Ontario wines and cider.
