While independent pizzeria owners balance the passion and pride they have in their craft, profit margin is a critical consideration in every aspect of their business. “The good news is, people are not afraid to spend extra for unique products such as ROSA GRANDE™ Cup + Char Pepperoni because it delivers on flavour and quality,” says Dan Glendinning, Country Manager, Canada Foodservice for Hormel Foods Canada.

“Traditionally it has all been the flat pepperoni under or on top of cheese. The cupping and charring not only have unique visual appeal, but also a unique and bold flavour that stands out from the crowd,” he explains.

Operators in Canada that have been using ROSA GRANDE™ Pepperoni report it has become a popular draw for customers. “There may be a bit of a higher cost, but there is also a higher perceived value on the part of consumers,” says Glendinning. “It can also be part of a specialty lineup for and added wow factor or offered as a premium-topping choice.”

Tommy Schneider, owner of Tommy’s Pizzeria in Winnipeg, says he went out of his way to source ROSA GRANDE™ Cup + Char Pepperoni after having used the product the U.S. before opening his restaurant in Canada. “I was so excited for the product I was asking every month when it was coming here. Everything about it is incredible.”

His customers agree. “The taste, the quality, and the look – it’s all there. That quality is important as I’m up against a lot of competitors here. Even though food costs have gone up like crazy, I have always stuck with it because it’s so good and my customers are loyal to it.”
