TORONTO — New York City-based Prince Street Pizza has arrived in Toronto, marking its 10th location and the pizzeria’s first international location. Its famous square slices are now being served at The Well, the city’s newest mixed-use hub. There are plans to open additional Canadian locations in the future.
The concept’s owner Lawrence Longo, who moved to California from Toronto in the early 2000s, is an entrepreneur with a passion for food and a desire to bring delicious bites to consumers. In 2020, Longo — whose portfolio also includes Off the Menu and Irv’s Burger — became owner and CEO of Prince Street Pizza. At this time, Longo saw an opportunity to not only expand his business internationally, but also bring his passion for food to his hometown.
To ensure any pizza made in locations outside of N.Y.C. tastes the same as the original, Longo insists on using the same ingredients, which include N.Y.C. water, made possible by the New York water-filtration system installed in the kitchen.
The pizzeria features a variety of menu options, including Original SOHO Squares available in Spicy Spring, Prince Perfection, Mercer Margherita, Spicy Vodka, Four Cheese, Vegan Square, Meat Lovers, and the newest crowd favourite, Naughty Pie.
Customers can also enjoy round Neapolitan-style pizzas, including the Original Prince, the Fancy Prince, Boozy Broome, Green Machine, Oakey Smokey and Veggie Original.
“Prince Street Pizza has been serving slices for more than a decade in New York and across the U.S., and our visitors from Toronto keep asking for a location here. Well, the wait is over — we’re here,” says Longo. “I grew up in Toronto, my family is here, so opening in this city is extra special to me. We know the pizza scene is thriving in the city and we’re excited to bring our Sicilian squares to the fold.”
