SASKATOON — More than a year after closing two restaurants in Vancouver, chef Dale MacKay has returned home to Saskatoon where he’s celebrating the opening of his new venture, Ayden Kitchen & Bar.

The restaurant is named after the Top Chef Canada winner’s son. “Great memories of the people, history and beauty readily brought me back, and I want to contribute to the spirit of this place for my guests, team and boy,” said MacKay. “Growing up in Saskatoon grounded me and enabled me to go out into the world with a safe place in my heart always. It is good to be home.”

The new restaurant will be commandeered by GM Christopher Cho. In the kitchen, alongside chef MacKay, will be Nathan Guggenheimer as executive chef and butcher as well as Jesse Zuber as the head chef and pastry chef.

The kitchen brigade will create sharing platters, butchery boards and daily creations based on seasonal cuisine, with entrées that range in price from $18 to $32.

The new restaurant, located at 265 3rd Ave. South, opens Monday through Saturday with lunch, lounge and dinner menus.
