VAUGHAN, Ont. — On July 14 at Vaughan Pizza Fest, five pizzerias will come together in Vaughan, Ont. to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for longest calzone ever made.

The team of pizza cooks — led by “Pizza Dude,” Roberto Vergalito — will use a Hot Rocks Stone Conveyer Oven to bake 136 kg and 18 m of raw dough and ingredients.

The dough for the calzone will be made with 140 kg of flour, 355 mL of dry yeast, one kg each of salt and sugar and olive oil. It will be stuffed with 36 L of tomato sauce; 20 kg of dry, cured pepperoni; and 60 kg of Saputo Mozzarellissima Cheese.

The attempt will be made at 1 p.m. and, following Guinness World Record’s appraisal, the calzone will be eaten on site, with leftovers distributed to local shelters. There has not been a previous attempt to set this record.

Vaughan Pizza Fest, which is sponsored by Saputo, will also feature live entertainment and events such as a pizza-eating contest.
