Weir Creates Buzz at Westin

VICTORIA — Anticipation of golf superstar Mike Weir’s participation in the 2010 Telus World Skins Game at The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa in Victoria, from June 21 to 22, is creating quite a buzz.

“When the decision was made to stage the Telus World Skins Game on the resort’s Mountain Course, our investment in the distinction of being the only golf resort with 36 holes of Nicklaus Design golf was validated,” said director of golf Shayne Dysart of The Westin Bear Mountain.

Amateur golfers can get involved in the World Skins Game, too. The management at Westin Bear Mountain has created two unique opportunities. Guests can play the Bear before the pros or take part in a private corporate shotgun tournament for either one group of 100 or several smaller groups of 16-plus on the Valley Course.

“The Skins Game format is relaxed and friendly to allow players to engage with the media and fans. The Westin Bear Mountain is perfect for this format as the resort community offers a wide variety of amenities from fabulous restaurants, to a public outdoor pool and state-of-the-art gym facilities that are open year round to the public, outdoor beach volleyball and a resort village with unique retailers,” says hotel manager, Colin Mantell. “The bonus for all of us is the opportunity to raise money for the event’s designated charity, Jeneece Place. We are excited to be a part of ensuring that Jeneece’s dream of a safe, happy home-away-from-home for children visiting the Victoria General Hospital comes true.”
