TORONTO — The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) is celebrating Canada’s 150th with several food and cooking events.

The East-Coast Kitchen Party, scheduled to take place on Aug. 19 to 20, will feature world-class oyster shuckers, live music, fiddlers and the Newfoundland tradition of ‘kiss a cod and get screeched in.’

A Battle of the Bartenders will take place as eight of the city’s best mixologists compete to create the Best Caesar. Visitors can also purchase a VIP experience ($125, plus HST) to enjoy a one-night limited-seating lobster dinner on Aug. 19 catered by Prince Edward County’s Sand and Pearl restaurant.

The CNE will also feature a Celebrity Chef Stage where Canadian and international celebrity chefs will be showcasing their cooking skills. Chefs that visitors can expect to see include Jamie Kennedy, Michael Smith, Francisco Alejandri, Vikram Vij, Rob Rainford, Nick Liu and David Wolfman — an internationally recognized expert in wild game and traditional cuisine of the indigenous peoples of North America.

The CNE will take place Aug. 18 to Sept. 4 at Exhibition Place in Toronto.
