For 50 years RATIONAL has been driving innovation in the foodservice sector. This year marks yet another important milestone, as RATIONAL celebrates 25 years in Canada.
“RATIONAL Canada has been a pioneering force in the Canadian foodservice industry since its inception in 1999,” says Simon Lohse, executive vice-president of North America for RATIONAL. “Over the past quarter-century, the company has continually pushed boundaries and re-defined professional cooking with innovative technologies and exceptional products.”
RATIONAL’s groundbreaking innovations have revolutionized commercial kitchens over the years. In 2004 it made culinary history with the launch of the world’s first SelfCookingCenter, combining multiple cooking functions into a single, intuitive device to deliver unparalleled efficiency and consistency in chefs’ culinary creations. Twelve years later it introduced the SelfCookingCenter XS, a compact and powerful addition catered to the evolving needs of smaller kitchen spaces
2020 marked another significant turning point with the launch of the iCombi Pro and the iVario Pro. “These cutting-edge cooking systems represented the pinnacle of culinary technology, offering chefs unprecedented control, precision, and flexibility in their cooking processes,” says Lohse.
Today RATIONAL Canada boasts more than 40 dedicated team members and more than 60 RATIONAL certified chefs spread across the nation, providing a network of unparalleled support and expertise to clients. It has shipped more than 25,000 cooking units across the country, a testament to the acceptance and trust of its cutting-edge cooking solutions. RATIONAL also recently received the prestigious 2024 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
In 2023, RATIONAL reinforced its commitment to the Canadian market with the inauguration of its new Canadian headquarters in Mississauga, Ont., creating a hub for innovation and customer support for the country’s clientele, says Lohse. “We see great potential in the Canadian market for our solutions that not only provide quality and consistency, but also reduce costs and retain staff.”
