MONTREAL — Air Canada has upgraded its economy class with in-flight meals for international travel, including a celebrity chef entrée, a unique dining service and Bistro options on North-American flights.
Starting in November, international economy passengers departing from Canada will be served regional appetizers, a hot dish by famed Montreal chef Jérôme Ferrer of Jérôme Ferrer Europa in Montreal and a separate dessert. New Bistro options include a brioche bagel smoked-salmon sandwich, vegan options such as a farro salad, spiced chickpea wrap and Montreal smoked-meat sandwiches.
Additionally, Air Canada airport lounges will offer a new selection of seasonal Canadian wines, full buffet service in airport hubs, and more salads and international dishes such as stir-fry and curries. Montreal Maple Leaf Lounges will feature Montreal Fairmount bagels, smoked-meat sandwiches and poutine.
“We are investing in all aspects of the journey to make travel even better for customers, including in our economy and premium cabins,” says Mark Nasr, vice-president of Air Canada’s Products, Marketing and E-Commerce.
Additional plans include implementing premium seats with more in-flight entertainment and Bluetooth audio connectivity, increasing onboard viewing content by more than 25 per cent next year, live TV programming with real-time news updates and sports games and an outside camera feature. Premium Rouge passengers will also receive complimentary, high-speed Wi-Fi — a first for a Canadian airline — along with luxury Acqua di Parma amenity kits.
