VANCOUVER — Twelve chefs across British Columbia will participate in the annual Roasted Competition, to be held during the B.C. Foodservice Expo, Jan. 29-30.
The winner and the runner-up of the competition will travel to Toronto to be part of the Discovered Culinary Competition at the CRFA Show, Mar. 4 to 6.
The Discovered Culinary Competition is a four-month search for the best of Canada’s up-and-coming culinary stars. The winning chef will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to spend a week cooking at a Michelin-star restaurant in northern Spain. The two B.C. chefs will travel to Toronto with funds provided by competition sponsor Sysco Vancouver.
The roster of competing chefs includes: Jeff Kang of Vancouver’s Diva at the Met; Romeo Oloresisimo of Ora Restaurant in Kamloops; Dan Craig of Delta in Burnaby; William Tse of The Sandbar in Vancouver; Rebecca Johnson of the Italian Cultural Centre in Vancouver; Gerard Martin of Penticton Trade and Convention Centre in Penticton; Tyler Leeson of Kingfisher Restaurant at Halcyon Hot Springs Resort in Nakusp; James Marinoff of Bon Rouge Bistro and Lounge in Victoria; John Waller of Victoria; Colman Herrington of xxx in Vancouver; Nathan Wright of Coast Hotel in Vancouver and James Hanna of RauDZ Regional Table in Kelowna.
