CARPINTERIA, Calif. — The California-based Carl’s Jr. has announced plans to make its mark in the Ontario market.

CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc. signed an exclusive development agreement with 6Points Food Services Ltd. that will see 30 new Carl’s Jr. restaurants open in Ontario by 2020. “We couldn’st be happier to have the team from 6Points on board to spearhead the expansion in Ontario,” said Ned Lyerly, CKE EVP of International.

The development will focus on Ontario’s “Golden Horseshoe” area, which includes Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, Brantford and London. The first restaurant is scheduled to open in Toronto later this year.

The agreement with 6Points Food Services Ltd. is just part of a larger plan to expand the chain across Canada and expand CKE’s presence internationally during the next five years.

“Carl’s Jr. is really gaining momentum across Canada. There’s a lot of buzz about the burst of development of the brand throughout the market, and we’sre anxious to dig in,” said Kent Graber, 6Points Food Services Ltd. managing partner. “Carl’s Jr.’s premium menu and big, delicious burgers have already captured the affection, and appetites, of our neighbours in B.C. and Alberta, and we think Ontario will be no exception.”
