TORONTO — Many chefs, restaurateurs, schools and foodies are joining chef Jamie Oliver’s charge to change the way people eat by participating in Food Revolution Day, May 19.

The food movement, spearheaded by Britain’s Oliver, has attracted Canadian support.

According to Eat In Eat Out, a Toronto-based website, several local events are planned, including a free parent-child cooking class at Toronto’s Kitchen Studio/The Cookbook Store; a food education workshop at the Petits Chefs Academy in Vaughan, Ont.; and a chef’s table hosted by Christine Tizzard at Toronto’s Artscape Wychwood Barns.

Food Revolution Day is an opportunity to exchange information, talents and resources about food, while drawing attention to the world’s food issues. The goal is to inspire change in people’s food habits and promote better education.
