Frankie Tomatto’s Restaurant Competition to Offer Cash Prizes

MARKHAM, Ont. — The new Frankie Tomatto’s Restaurant Innovation Competition will serve as a platform for cash incentives for Ontario college and university hospitality students who create an innovative idea or concept for the restaurant industry.

The Markham, Ont.-based restaurant is offering $3,000 (first prize) and $1,000 (second prize), to the student team who can offer innovations on anything from technology to food preparation and revenue management.

Six institutions have already committed to take part in the competition, including
Algonquin College, Ottawa; George Brown College, Toronto; Humber College, Toronto; Ryerson University, Toronto; and The University of Guelph, Guelph.

Teams must consist of a minimum of two and a maximum of four students, who are registered in the fall 2013 semester of the approved hospitality programs. The University of Guelph will host the event administered by Joe Barth.
