VANCOUVER — James McFarlane has been promoted from vice-president of Operations to Chief Operating Officer for Browns Restaurant Group (BRG).
McFarlane has an extensive restaurant and hospitality background. Prior to joining BRG in 2017, he was a franchise owner and started his own independent restaurant. When he joined BRG, McFarlane was responsible for the rollouts of the Browns Crafthouse and Liberty Kitchen brands. In 2020, he was promoted to vice-president and directed BRG’s culinary team, while also taking on Browns Socialhouse operations and marketing responsibilities.
During the pandemic, BRG added six new locations under MacFarlane’s leadership, growing its off-premise business category. He was responsible for implementing new technology, menu management systems and a variety of other tools.
