LANGLEY, B.C. — JD Sweid Foods has plans to invest $20 million to ramp up production capacity at its facility in Langley, B.C.

The phased expansion allows the company to meet the rising demand for its fully cooked product lines and address evolving industry trends calling for greater food safety. Specifically, the company will add fully cooked poultry capacity with an upgraded line that will include a new oven, fryer and associated equipment. The project is expected to be completed by 2024.

“Our expansion will boost overall capacity in Langley by 15 per cent,” says David Pickrell, president of JD Sweid Foods. “The investment, one of the biggest in our 105-year history, will enable us to cope with future business growth and maintain our position in Canada as an industry leader. Managing and maintaining high quality, fully cooked products onsite provides greater peace of mind to operators and address the challenges and capabilities of the foodservice sector grappling with skilled labour shortages and rising food-safety concerns.”
