MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — ManchuWok is taking its authentic chef-inspired Chinese food from the mall to the streets with its first two street-front locations in Guelph and Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. Featuring an elevated “fired up and fresh” open-kitchen design, the menu includes favourites and new creations prepared fresh daily in the wok right before your eyes. Chef John Lee spearheaded the new menu, emphasizing the culinary foundations of Chinese cookery. His focus on quick-fired wok dishes showcases the use of fresh and seasonal ingredients, elevating the dining experience to new heights.

“After more than 40 years of being leaders in the food-court space, we’re adapting our winning brand for the streets,” says Jeff Roop, senior director of Operations for ManchuWok. “We elevated the look, feel, and added some great items to our menu for the street model while staying true to our signature dishes and flavours.”

The new menu includes “Chef Inspired Creations” by chef Lee, including General Tso Fried Rice, Umami Beef Noodles and Shrimp Chow Mein or Chicken Chow Mein in addition to customer favourites such as Honey Garlic Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork and Beef and Broccoli.

“I jumped at the chance to work with the ManchuWok team because of my love for Asian cuisine. The opportunity to contribute to such an esteemed brand as well as to apply my learnings working with Asian concepts across Singapore, China and Europe made my decision an easy one,” says Lee, who was a culinary professor at George Brown College for nearly a decade, restaurateur, and freelance food journalist. “Given the vast range of Chinese regional menus, the vision for future menu items is limitless and as such, to bring the deliciousness and adaptability of ManchuWok’s concepts to communities across Canada and beyond.”

With the new street-front concept, guests can now enjoy a dine-in experience, or order for takeout or delivery.

“ManchuWok has been a staple in many cities and communities for decades,” says Sault Ste. Marie franchisees Kelsey Breen and Matt D’Ettorre. “Our local community has been incredibly supportive, and we are blessed to have a hardworking and dedicated team in place to serve our regulars and welcome new guests to the ManchuWok experience.”
