TORONTO — Colin Morley, one of the founding partners of Hicks Morley Hamilton Stewart Storie LLP 52 years ago, passed away on Feb. 1, 2024 at the age of 95.
Morley was admitted to the bar in 1953 and started his career as a labour lawyer at Stelco. Shortly after, Morley joined Bob Hicks, Fred Hamilton and Bruce Stewart at Miller, Thomson, Hicks & Sedgwick, where they were eventually joined by their fifth founding partner, Tom Storie.
Morley quickly became one of the preeminent labour lawyers in Canada, bringing a particular expertise in collective bargaining and rights arbitration. He acted for numerous private-sector clients in the steel, manufacturing and media sectors.
