TORONTO — Celebrity chef Massimo Capra and SSP Canada, a travel-focused foodservice company, unveiled a duo of Italian restaurants at Pearson International Airport in Toronto.

“There are many good restaurants at airports such as New York’s JFK or Heathrow in London. And now, travellers at Toronto Pearson can also enjoy the very best food before they fly,” said Capra, at the official launch yesterday.

“Our menus have been designed so passengers only have to wait 10 minutes from the time they sit down to the time they are served and can be on their way in half an hour. That’s guaranteed.”

At Boccone Trattoria Veloce, a 3,291-sq.-ft. full-service, trattoria-style restaurant, diners can sit at high-top tables and cosy leather booths and watch food prepared from an open, European-style kitchen. The menu offers pasta courses such as tagliatelle in a classic meat ragu or penne with eggplant ragu and salted ricotta. At Boccone Pronto, its quick-service counterpart, diners can order rustic scaccia made with mozzarella, prosciutto ham and mushrooms or margherita pizza made with fresh tomato, mozzarella and basil.

Massimo is currently the chef and co-owner of Mistura and Sopra Upper Lounge in Toronto, and has appeared on the Food Network’s Restaurant Makeover.
