TORONTO Neal Brothers Foods Inc., the Toronto-based boutique distribution company of prestige brands of gourmet condiments and innovative snack foods, with a green and healthy twist, is pleased to announce the introduction of Neal Brothers Foods Kettle-style Chips.

Twenty-five years in the making and after years of spud-hunting, the boys have realized their long-standing dream to launch a product that they believe rivals no other.  The hand-cut crispy indulgences pack a punch, in unusual flavours including Maple Bacon, Himalayan Pink Salt, Sweet & Smoky BBQ as well as Pink Salt and Vinegar.  Made with the company’s signature focus on natural ingredients, they contain no preservatives or artificial flavours, which make them a great tasting and healthier alternative to more prosaic snacks.   Priced at $2.79/142 gram bag, Neal Brothers Kettle-style Chips will be available at well-known retailers and independent specialty and natural food stores across Canada this month.

Unmatched for quality, perfect for pairing and flavour firsts

The chips start out as naturally-grown non-GMO potatoes, which are sliced to a delicate thinness, carefully kettle-cooked at 375 degrees F to a golden crispness in 100 per cent sunflower or corn oil, dusted with exclusive natural spices and seasonings while still warm and carefully packed at the peak of their freshness.  The line boasts two flavours unique to Neal Brothers: Maple Bacon and Himalayan Pink Salt.  The pink salt is unrefined, unprocessed and hand-mined from salt caves formed 250 million years ago, and is lower in sodium than other salts while delivering the same amount of savoury satisfaction.  All four distinctive flavours pair well with microbrews and ciders, and harmoniously complement a wide variety of entrees and dips, perfect for summer snacking.  A 50 gram serving of Himalayan Pink Salt Chips — about 21 chips — contains no preservatives or artificial flavours, zero cholesterol, low sodium, and is a good source of vitamin C.

“We started out 25 years ago in mom’s kitchen,” said Peter Neal, co-founder, Neal Brothers Foods Inc.  “What a trip it’s been.  Our first product was our twist on a salad staple, the crouton.  We’ve now built an awesome business and grown our line of products with a dedication to ingredients, innovation and adventure, which has finally resulted in the realization of our initial dream — chips that rock, with an original flavour and healthy difference.  Twenty-five years in the making, this will hopefully launch us to new heights for the next quarter century.”

Unparalleled chips… off the 25 year old block

Where possible, all ingredients in Neal Brothers Foods products are organically grown and reflect the brothers’ beliefs and philosophies that respect and engender ethical trade and sustainably focused sources.  The new Kettle-style Chips carry on that tradition — with a crisp freshness, flavours that reflect their natural origin, and a disciplined cooking process to tickle taste buds like no other chip has tickled them before.

“Our brand is all about good food, great taste and uniqueness,” commented Chris Neal, co-founder, Neal Brothers Foods Inc.  “We’re really passionate about our commitment to health, sustainability and being responsible corporate citizens.  We don’t take ourselves too seriously but we know we have a responsibility.  So happy birthday to us, and let our Kettle Chips fall where they may … in the best retail food outlets in Canada.”
