Chang, owner of N.Y. restos Momofuku and Mà Pêche, is launching two restaurants beside the city’s Shangri-La Hotel in 2012. One will be modelled after his Momofuku noodle bar, and the other will be called Momofuku Daisho. And, according to a recent Star report, he has plans to open a bar, too.
As to why Chang chose the Big Smoke, he told The Globe the city seems welcoming. “Running a business anywhere isn’t easy,” the chef told the paper. “I’m not saying it’s easy in Toronto. It just seems to be more welcoming and there’s space to do things.”
