Pita Pit Celebrates Community Day in St. John’s

KINGSTON, Ont. — In August, Pita Pit franchisee Marcia Lunn donated $8,000 in a bid for Special Olympics athlete and Pita Pit employee, Ethan Mustard, to fly to her St. John, N.B. store and serve as brand ambassador during the company’s special community day celebrations, also taking place at the St. John Pita Pit location.

The event is in support of Pita Pit’s partnership with Motionball — a non-profit organization which raises awareness of and further funds for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. Mustard had been locally involved with the program for years, which inspired Pita Pit to make it a national effort. The QSR has served as the official lunch sponsor at Motionball’s 12 Marathon of Sport events across the country and raised $65,300 from its franchisees to further aid the organization in its mission.

Today, Mustard flies to St. John to join Pita Pit founder Nelson Lang as brand ambassadors at Pita Pit’s special community day. Next Wednesday, Mustard and Lang will work side-by-side during the lunch rush at the St. John Pita Pit. Wednesday evening, they’ll be joining the Special Olympics softball team and the rest of the St. John Pita Pit crew for a game at the Forest Hills Ball Field. A final celebration will take place following the game.
