TORONTO — Tim Hortons has been added to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index North America (DJSI North America).

According to reports, Tim Hortons scored higher than industry group averages across most dimensions evaluated. “Being recognized as a sustainability leader through our inclusion in the DJSI North America is a wonderful acknowledgement for the effort Tim Hortons and our restaurant owners have dedicated to being a sustainable and responsible organization,” said Paul House, executive chairman and interim president and CEO.

Tim Hortons sustainability program is focused on the framework of “Making a True Difference” and includes initiatives such as reducing energy and water, reducing packaging within the supply and manufacturing operations, developing an independent audit and verification program for coffee sourcing, providing healthy menu options and educating guests on products while donating funds toward their preferred charities.

The DJSI North America was launched in 1999 and tracks the performance of the top 20 per cent of the 600 largest companies, from Canada and the United States, in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index, that led the field in sustainability.
