TORONTO — Ritual, a mobile-ordering app based in Toronto, has announced plans to expand into the U.K., Australia and Europe as the company aims to more than triple its restaurant count by the end of 2019.

The app targets coffee and lunch orders at local eateries, including bricks-and-mortar stores and food trucks.
The turnkey mobile-ordering technology also offers a social-group ordering feature called Piggyback that allows co-workers to create a larger order and pay separately. According to company figures, more than 100,000 teams have been reached globally. With Piggyback, restaurants are able to leverage existing customers who pick up and bring back orders for teammates, which increases order size up to 400 per cent.
Some of the new North American cities launching in 2019 include Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, Montreal and Edmonton, as well as 18 U.S. cities.
