TORONTO — Uber Eats has created three new meal-sharing features as customers begin to gather again and workers return to office: bill splitting, deadlines and auto-reminders.
Now, the Uber Eats app allows customers to create a group order and split the bill. Once the host selects a restaurant, they can invite others to join the order. Once a group order is created, the host can set a checkout deadline to accommodate the other group members. Deadlines can be set up to seven days in advance, so all group members have time to place their orders. Hosts can also “set it and forget it,” with auto checkouts at the deadline or opt to place the order manually when the deadline expires. Lastly auto-reminders notify group members to get their orders in on time.
“Whether you’re ordering lunch for an office of hungry team members, or planning your next taco Tuesday with friends who have a variety of tastes, Uber’s new Group Ordering features are here to help make getting together for meals easier than ever,” reads an Uber press release.
