HALIFAX — The winners of the sixth-annual Atlantic Canadian Beer Awards were recently announced during an awards ceremony at HopYard Halifax.
The ceremony honoured some of the best craft breweries the Maritimes has to offer. For this year’s instalment, 56 breweries submitted a total of 400 beers and ciders for the competition, which was blind tasted by a panel of 31 Beer Judge Certification Program-certified judges and beer-industry professionals.
The 2019 winners include:
- Brewery of the Year
Bogside Brewing (Montague, P.E.I.) - New Brewery of the Year
Bogside Brewing (Montague, P.E.I.), with an honourable mention to Landwash Brewery (Mount Pearl, N.L.) - Cider House of the Year (tie)
No Boats On Sunday (Truro, N.S.) and Gagetown Distilling and Cidery (Gagetown, N.B.) - New Cider House of the Year
Red Island Cider (Charlottetown) - Beer of the Year
Gold: Small Batch Rauchbier – Moosehead - Cider of the Year
Hopped Cider – Gagetown Distilling and Cidery (Gagetown, N.B.)
Gold, Silver and Bronze were also awarded across 15 categories, with Gold winners including:
- North American & European Style Lager
Gold: Spindrift Brewing – Beaufort 10 - North American Style Specialty Ale
Gold: Tatamagouche Brewing Co. – Giantess Barleywine - Pale Ale
Gold: Graystone Brewing – Patagonia Pale Ale - Stout/Porter
Gold: Spindrift Brewing – Neat - India Pale Ale
Gold: Copper Bottom Brewing – Parkman Ave - Experimental Beer
Gold: Moosehead Breweries – Small Batch Rauchbier - Sour Beer
Gold: Landwash Brewery – Brackish - Standard Cider and Perry
