TORONTO — Four foodservice-related companies have been honoured on Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies list.

New York Fries and South St. Burger Company, which are owned by the same company, placed on the list after a good year of sales and green initiatives. “We take a great deal of pride in managing a company that both franchisees and employees are excited to work with,” said Jay Gould, president and founder of the two chains. The company was recognized for its sustainable approach and the launch of new products such as braised-beef poutine.

Other food-related companies named on the list include Burnbrae Farms, a family run company specializing in the egg industry; Fresh Direct Produce, a major supplier of fresh exotic produce; Hendrix, foodservice equipment specialists and Seacore Seafood, importer and distributor of fresh and frozen seafood.

Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies list, sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, National Post and Queen’s School of Business, was launched in 1993.
