VANCOUVER — The Distinguished Restaurants of North America (DiRoNA), which promotes fine-dining and dining excellence across the country, has announced that its 2013 conference will be held at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel Vancouver from Sept. 15 to 18.

“With DiRoNA, we celebrate the art of culinary excellence, and Vancouver is the perfect place to do that,” said Joseph DiSalvo, DiRoNA Board chair. “The region has a vibrant culinary scene that is second to none.”

The conference, which brings together North America’s finest restaurateurs and chefs, will honour restaurants receiving the Achievement of Distinction in Dining awards, nominated by Vancouver’s DiRoNA Conference chairperson, Pino Posteraro, and reviewed by DiRoNA’s Board of Directors. Winners include Araxi, Bearfoot Bistro, Blue Water Café + Raw Bar, Sooke Harbour House and Vij’s. The panel will also be recognizing JJ’s Restaurant at Vancouver Community College for excellence in culinary training.

DiRoNA was founded as a non-profit organization in 1990 and seeks to promote fine dining throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico. [dirona.com]
