TORONTO — McDonald’s has introduced two new meatless options in its line of Signature McWraps to appeal to the growing number of consumers interested in incorporating more vegetables in their diet.

“A key ingredient to our success has been our ability to remain relevant and consistently deliver what our customers are looking for, because we listen intensely and respond to their needs,” said John Betts, president and CEO, McDonald’s Canada.

“The new Signature McWrap veggie options are part of our ongoing commitment to evolve our menu to meet changing lifestyle preferences while creating entrée options that welcome new customers into our restaurants.”

According to research from the NPD Group, servings of non-fried vegetables in the QSR industry grew by more than 10 per cent over last year.

The new Mediterranean Veggie Signature McWrap ($4.39) is topped with roasted garlic hummus, feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, shredded lettuce, lemon-seasoned crispy onions and Mediterranean feta sauce, while the new Santa Fe Veggie McWrap ($4.39) is made with corn, black beans, light cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, tomatoes, red onions, shredded lettuce and tortilla strips with chili lime glaze and southwest sauce.
