DENVER — Qdoba Mexican Grill, a U.S. fast-casual Mexican concept, has announced plans to expand its franchise operations in Canada, following the recent opening of its first unit in Brandon, Man., and a new unit in London, Ont., set to open March 18.

The company plans to open 70 to 85 locations in North America in 2013.

“We will continue cultivating franchise partners in the U.S. and internationally that exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for food along with a track record of success in the restaurant industry,” said John Dikos, director of Franchise Development for Qdoba Mexican Grill.

Qdoba features fresh, quality ingredients, including hand-smashed guacamole and a selection of customizable entrées, including tacos, burritos, quesadillas and nachos. Guests can choose their tortilla, and fillings such as pulled pork, shredded beef, pico de gallo and grilled vegetables, while watching their items prepared out of an open-concept kitchen. The company also offers catering services, including a buffet-style hot bar featuring tacos, nachos and burrito-box lunches for 10 to 100 people.

Based in Denver, Colo., Qdoba Mexican Grill is a wholly owned subsidiary of Jack in the Box; it has more than 600 restaurants in the U.S.
