“The trade competitions give the festival an opportunity to honour and celebrate those professionals who have developed and enhanced the extraordinary wine and food culture of our region,” said Harry Hertscheg, festival executive director, of the awards, which were handed out at a recent luncheon.
It was a vintage showing for Top Table restaurants as the critically acclaimed company’s Blue Water Café and West restaurants won two of three Platinum Awards, while CinCin won five Gold Awards and Whistler’s Araxi garnered a Silver nod.
The Wine List Awards are presented annually to restaurants across B.C. and Alberta, with judging criteria measuring each restaurant’s wine program philosophy and how well wine and food pairing goals match it. Areas also considered in the judging are: the quality of wine education for staff, an accessible and user-friendly list and the provision of value at all price-points.
