NARAMATA, B.C. — Chef Victor Bongo has teamed up with Serendipity Winery winemaker Judy Kingston to launch Bongo’s Bistro at Serendipity Winery. This marks Bongo’s second seasonal pop-up venture to launch in the Naramata Bench wine region of the Okanagan Valley.

Bongo has worked with Kingston in the past to develop the chef’s signature wine. He also runs Bongo BBQ at Village Grounds in Naramata, which launched last year and reopened for the season in May and offers chef-driven barbecue and pastas for eat-in and takeout.

Bongo’s Bistro showcases the chef’s experience travelling the world in a more formal setting. The menu is designed to pair with Serendipity’s wines. Dishes include Chef Bongo’s Famous African Peanut Soup, which is finished with chive and coconut crème fraîche ($11); miso-glazed sable fish with lemongrass, coconut milk and kaffir lime-leaf broth, seaweed gnocchi, butternut squash, sweet peas and cherry tomato ($36); and Moroccan venison Bolognese spaghetti featuring West-African spices, goat-cheese crème fraiche, parmesan cheese and fresh herbs ($26).
