TORONTO — The Taste Canada Awards, which recognize excellence in food and beverage writing and publishing, are set to be presented to the best English- and French-language Canadian food writers at the new Arcadian Court in Toronto Nov. 5.

“We’re hoping for a big crowd, several hundred people, authors, chefs, publishers — all the “big mouths” in the industry,” said Karen Gelbart, co-chair of the Taste Canada Awards.

Among the chefs nominated are David Rocco, Michael Smith, Stefano Faita and Josée di Stasio.

The awards are the culmination of months of work. It begins in January with the call for submissions and continues through the year, with the selection of volunteer committees, the submission of the books by publishers and the judging process. Twenty-four Canadian culinary professionals serve on the committees.
