VANCOUVER — Bauhaus Restaurant in Vancouver has announced its goal of becoming the number-1 restaurant in Canada with a new chef team and menu.
The team is led by German-born executive chef Christian Kuehnel, who started his career in Frankfurt at the prestigious Kempinski Hotel. He’s worked at some of the world’s top restaurants, including Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London and Tim Raue’s Spices.
Joining Kuehnel is executive sous-chef Caroline Lienart, who recently arrived in Vancouver from Paris, where she worked for three-Michelin-Star restaurant, Dame de Pic. Lienart is an accomplished competition chef and was awarded a Medallion for Excellence at WorldSkills São Paulo (2015).
The restaurant, owned by German filmmaker Uwe Boll, focuses on high-end modern German cuisine. It’s also received a number of accolades, including winning “Best European” at the Where Magazine Awards and being listed as a restaurant to watch by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Diner’s Discovery Series.
The new menu concept focuses on modern German cuisine — offering a contemporary take that emphasizes local products and combines them with international accents. The restaurant will feature four- to six-course tasting-menu options.
