TORONTO — In what is becoming an annual fall tradition, Canyon Creek is once again partnering with local farmers to promote a selection of locally harvested fresh seasonal produce in its eight Ontario restaurants.

More than 20 farmers from across Southwestern Ontario are participating in the promotion, which runs until Oct. 31.

The Local Harvest Menu, created by executive chef Mark Jachecki, highlights such products as heirloom carrots from Carron Farms; spaghetti squash from Thames River and tart cherries from Vineland. Seven new items have been added to the menu, including King Cole Smoked Duck Salad and Wellington County Flat Iron Steak.

“Not only does fresh, local produce deliver better, richer flavours to our guests but helping to sustain Ontario farms is an ideal we’re committed to,” said George Kakeletris, president, Canyon Creek. “When you visit these farms and see the quality of the produce and the farmers’ dedication to delivering the best, you can’t help but be impressed. We’re thrilled to be helping promote their efforts while providing our diners with delicious food.”

The menu will be paired with local wines from House Wine Co., in Niagara and beer from Muskoka Brewery. And, to get customers truly involved in the promo, diners have a chance to vote for the beverage pairing they prefer for a chance to win a weekend getaway, courtesy of the beverage suppliers.
