TORONTO — Chopped Canada, a spinoff of the popular U.S. cooking show Chopped, will premiere Jan. 2 on Food Network Canada, featuring a panel of rotating judges, including chefs Susur Lee, Lynn Crawford, Chuck Hughes, Roger Mooking, Anne Yarymowich, John Higgins, Michael Smith and Vikram Vij. Canadian actor Dean McDermott will host.

“Over the last few years Canadians have devoured the nail-biting competition in Chopped, and it’s a thrill to introduce our own adrenaline-pumping edition,” said Barbara Williams, SVP of Content, Shaw Media, which owns the Food Network Canada.

“With the highly entertaining Dean McDermott at the helm, and some of the country’s most respected chefs presiding over the judges table, the all-Canadian cast of contenders are in for the competition of their lives.”

During the show four Canadian chefs compete in a mystery-box competition; course by course they are ‘chopped’ from the competition until one remains. The winner earns $10,000. Many of the participating chefs are from Toronto.
