HALIFAX — A taste of France has moved west with the opening of Bistro Le Coq on Argyle Street in Halifax.
The RCR Hospitality Group restaurant, which offers authentic French fare such as duck confit salad, croque monsieur, escargot and steak frites, was developed after visits to great French bistros in New York.
“The idea was to create something classic, yet distinct,” said owner Robert Risley. “We wanted touches of authenticity that would evoke a French bistro but also allow the restaurant to grow into itself and the city.”
The bistro is adorned with jars of preserves and decorative plates set against exposed brickwork and antique furniture. It’s open Sunday through Thursday, from noon to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from noon to 1 a.m.
